ABOUT ME...
My name is Grace Cummins and I am an illustrator who specialises in children's picture book, with a specific interest in mental health and emotional education for children.

As well as illustrating my books I am also their author; often a character will pop into my head and as I get to know this little person, what their favourite colour might be or what worries them most, I build up a narrative around them allowing me to bring their story to life on a book page.

For many years I have been interested in helping children start their journey with mental and emotional health in a positive way, as it is my belief that if we start early we can dramatically improve the mental health difficulties that are currently facing many children.

The benefits of picture books role in helping with a child's mental health is something I explored extensively within my recent dissertation project. Discovering that Developmental Bibliotherapy through books is a proven method to support the ongoing mental health crisis currently facing children today.

Although my specialism is in picture books any young audience or community projects would still interest me and are areas that I hope to explore in the near future.
